The price is based on 30 paying travelers and 5 free chaperones. For smaller independent groups we will adjust the price. The ratio for free chaperones stays at 1 to 6. The lowest number of paying participants for an independent group is 10.
LISBON, SINTRA, MADRID, TOLEDO, MADRID
Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY – LISBON: Overnight flight to Portugal.
Day-2. LISBON: Arrive in Lisbon and check into your hotel. After a break go for a walking tour with your tour director.
Day-3. LISBON: Go on a guided tour of Lisbon. First see the Tower of Belem, the symbol of Lisbon, located on the bank of the Tagus River. Continue to Praca do Imperio to visit the famous Jeronimo’s Monastery a most prominent example of the Late Gothic Manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. King Manuel I transformed it into this remarkable monument as a prayer to the Virgin of Belém for the success of Vasco da Gama’s voyage to India in 1497. The monastery contains the tomb of Vasco da Gama and the Royal tombs of the House of Aviz. Then drive past the Bull Ring to the Pombal Statue and along the grand Avenida da Liberdade to Alfama district and Castelo de Sao Jorge. Free afternoon.
Day-4. SINTRA – CASCAIS: Go on a full-day guided excursion to Sintra and Cascais. Sintra and Cascais were built as Summer resorts for royal and aristocratic families of Europe. In Sintra visit the magnificent Paco Real palace, Palacio da Vila, Church of Sao Martinho, Church of Misericordia, Hanging Post, and the Clock Tower. Continue to Cacais on the Atlantic coast. Spend some time in the town and return to Lisbon.
Day-5. LISBON – MADRID: Take a short flight from Lisbon to Madrid. After arrival join your tour director on a walking tour to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Major, and more. Some free time to explore on your own.
Day-6. MADRID: Start with a guided city tour of Madrid. See/Visit: Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol – Gateway to the Sun a kilometer zero from which all the country’s road distances are measured, the Opera, and the beautiful parks and plazas. Continue on to Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, Basilica de San Miguel, Capilla del Obispo, and Palacio de Congresos. Go on and have a guided tour of Palacio Real (Royal Palace). Free afternoon.
Day-7. MADRID: On a guided tour of the famous Prado Museum, a Neo-Gothic building from the 18th-century see the masterpieces by Velasquez, Goya, Murillo, and Ribera as well as Flemish and Italian paintings. Continue to Reina Sofia Museum of Contemporary Art. See La Guernica by Picasso and much more. Spend some time at Plaza Mayor where all the young travelers from around the world gather or do some shopping at El Corte Ingles.
Day-8. MADRID -TOLEDO – MADRID: Board the bus for a guided tour to Toledo. The city is surrounded by medieval walls and is famous for its fine Damascus tempered steel and sword production. El Greco, a famous painter lived there. Visit El Greco House and the Cathedral with many El Greco paintings. See the main sites such as Alcazar, Synagog de Santa Maria la Blanca, and Puente del Alcantar, and enjoy the magic view of the walled city from the other bank of the river Tagus. Return to Madrid in the afternoon.
Day-9. DEPARTURE: Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Day-10. EXTENSION – ADD A DAY with EL ESCORIAL and VALLE DE LOS CAIDOS: Go for a guided excursion by bus to El Escorial, the monastery where King Philip II of Spain lived toward the end of his life and died. The Spanish kings are buried there even today. Go on to Valle de Los Caidos, the biggest Catholic Church ever. Return to Madrid. $232.50

PAYMENT POLICY:
A down payment of $300.00 for the tours in 2024 is due before July 31st, 2023, and for the trips in 2025 before July 31st, 2024.

The down payment is not refundable.
The number of participants, the ratio, and the price can be changed according to request.
INSURANCE – optional.
Includes trip cancellation, lost baggage, trip interruption, and medical insurance. It will be added to your first payment.

If your group or any individuals from your group do not accept this insurance, the group leader must inform E&L GROUP TOURS in writing.
All individuals traveling with E&L GROUP TOURS must show proof of valid travel insurance.
